Members of the Australasian Conference of Tertiary Admissions Centres (ACTAC), comprising admissions centres in all Australian states and territories, have so far issued 271,097 offers for tertiary courses commencing in semester 1, 2025.
All Australian tertiary admissions centres (TACs) work together closely via ACTAC to operate Australia’s national tertiary admissions system which provides students completing Australian year 12 programs and others wanting to upskill with study opportunities across the country.
Over 270,000 tertiary offers made to date for courses commencing 2025
All TACs have issued multiple rounds of offers already, with applicants generally receiving the highest preference course that they are eligible to receive an offer for in each round.

Most course offers for first semester study are made in December and January, with admissions centres making remaining places available through February offer rounds.
Australian tertiary admissions centres make offers for domestic undergraduate and postgraduate university courses, VET courses (e.g. TAFE), and courses for international students.
The ATAR: a key enabler of student mobility
Australian tertiary admissions centres support a wide range of pathways to tertiary education. Alongside other admissions tools and criteria, each tertiary admissions centre calculates the Australian Tertiary Admission Rank (ATAR) for students completing an Australian senior secondary program in its jurisdiction. Tertiary admissions centres work together to ensure that the ATAR is a robust and nationally consistent measure of academic achievement for course selection purposes regardless of the state or territory in which it is obtained.
TAC collaboration means that an ATAR obtained in any jurisdiction can be used to apply for courses in any other state or territory without conversion or adjustment. For example, a Victorian ATAR of 90.00 can be used at the same value in Queensland or Western Australia.
