International Year 12 applicants must meet English language requirements for admission.

Adelaide University

Students who have successfully completed Australian Year 12 or the International Baccalaureate Diploma can satisfy degree language requirements by obtaining a passing grade (C- or equivalent) in the relevant English language subject, unless the student requires an objective English test as part of their student visa application.

Some programs have higher English requirements, such as International English Language Testing System Overall 7.0 with 7.0 in each subscore or equivalent. Students applying to these degrees can satisfy degree language requirements by obtaining a passing grade (B or equivalent).

A small number of degrees require provision of an English language test: Nursing, Midwifery, or Speech Pathology. For more information about English language requirements for specific programs contact Adelaide University.

Charles Darwin University

In most circumstances, you can meet English language requirements with:

• Successful completion of an Australian Year 12 program.

Offshore applicants can meet English language requirements by presenting an acceptable English language proficiency test result. For courses with a higher requirement, the University will contact applicants with details of the scores required. Offshore applicants will also need to meet the Department of Home Affairs English Language Proficiency (ELP) requirements.

Flinders University

Applicants who successfully complete an Australian Year 12 qualification (either in Australia or offshore) and achieve an ATAR, satisfy the English language requirements for most
Flinders University courses. This generally aligns with an overall IELTS score between 6.0 and 7.0 (the latter requiring a minimum of 6.5 in each band).

Applicants who achieve an ATAR and pass English as an Additional Language (EAL), or its interstate or IB equivalent, also meet the English language requirements for courses requiring an overall IELTS of 7.0 with a minimum of 7.0 in each band.

Please note: These criteria exclude nursing and midwifery courses. For these, English language requirements must be met through approved tests, in line with the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Australia (NMBA) standards.
