Applications are open throughout the year for courses starting at various times. Check the key dates for information about application open and close dates.
All applicants (excluding international applicants) will either need to register a mySATAC account or login to your existing mySATAC account. Applicants can create new applications for new admission cycles through the same mySATAC account.
International applicants will need to register a new application each admission cycle.
First, check your spam or junk email folder. If the email is not received after a few hours, it may be that there is a technical issue, or you have mistyped your email address. Contact SATAC and we will check for you.

Within mySATAC, applicants can start separate applications for undergraduate, postgraduate and TAFE SA courses. Undergraduate and postgraduate applicants can list up to six preferences in an application. TAFE SA applicants can list up to three preferences.
The application will ask you for relevant information about your skills and qualifications. SATAC will assess your application according to the selection criteria and ranking rules for each course you add to your preferences.
To sit the STAT to support your application through SATAC, you have to book a STAT sitting via ACER.
Undergraduate application fees vary depending on the type of courses you are applying for and your application's timing.
The processing fee for all postgraduate applications is $105.00.
SATAC applications for TAFE SA courses are free.
If you apply for Semester 1 courses after 29 September 2023 your processing fee will increase. If you add a Semester 1 course to your preferences any time after 29 September 2023 a higher processing fee will apply.
There are a few factors affecting how long assessment takes. These include:
- the entry requirements for the course
- the types of qualifications you hold
- whether the course has additional entry requirements
- when the course makes offers.
It is not possible for SATAC to give an assessment timeframe that fits every circumstance. If you are not waiting for current year results you may wish to check the progress of your application 4 weeks after the date of submission.
Your application will tell you when you need to provide supporting documents. Whether you need to supply supporting documents will depend on the course(s) you have applied for and the types of qualifications you hold.
Yes. If you need to submit supporting documents to SATAC, you can upload them online. Documents can be submitted in PDF, JPEG or JPG formats.
All applicants (excluding international applicants) can upload documents whilst completing your application or after you have submitted.
International applicants can upload documents after you have submitted your application.
The online instructions will step you through the process. You can return to your application to add more documents at any time.
SATAC does not keep documents submitted in previous applications. If SATAC requests documents to support your application, submit them as soon as possible.
In most cases, there is no set date for submitting documents. This is because there are different start times for courses and many offer round dates throughout the year. Submit supporting documents as soon as possible after submitting your application.
For some supporting documents a specific timeframe might apply. Check the course entry details when submitting your application.
If you are currently studying or have recently completed a course and are awaiting supporting documentation, submit it as soon as it is available to you.
Any delay in submitting your documents may affect the outcome of your application.
Usually this means that you have to provide additional information for that credential. If this is the case, SATAC will have emailed you specifying what it is that you need to do, so make sure you provide the requested information without delay.
This means that you have met the entry requirements for that course and can be placed into scheduled offer rounds for consideration of an offer. Once you are eligible, whether you receive an offer will depend on your competitiveness.
Timing of offers can depend on:
- when you submit your application
- how long assessment of your application takes
- when you become eligible for an offer, and
- when the course(s) you have applied for chooses to make offers.
SATAC will generally not notify you if you do not get an offer.
Undergraduate, postgraduate and international applicants can check the status of your application at any time online, or by contacting SATAC.
If you do not receive an offer in a scheduled offer round you should seek advice from the institution offering the course. You might be able to change your preferences in time for a future offer round or find out how to improve your chances in a future application.
The institution offering the course will email you directly with enrolment instructions once you have received your offer letter. If you need assistance with enrolment, please contact the institution directly.
Most undergraduate and postgraduate courses are deferrable through SATAC. If a course does not allow deferment, or if it is deferrable through the institution only, this is stated in the course entry in course search.
TAFE SA courses are not deferrable through SATAC.
All applicants (excluding international applicants) can reset your password from the mySATAC login page. You will need to enter the email address you used to register your mySATAC account. If you have also forgotten the email address you used to register your mySATAC account, contact SATAC.
International applicants can retrieve your username and reset your password from the application login page. You will need to enter the email address you used to register your application.
